Welcome to our Biodiversity Digital Objects Repository at UMCE

The main goal of this repository is to preserve and share a vast amount of data and knowledge existing about National Biodiversity. At the present days, knowledge about flora and fauna comes from private owned biological collection abroad.

Although, Chile has the scientific knowledge and great biological collections, they are not found on standardized and digitalized objects.
Around 50% of existing species in Chile are endemic, for this reason it’s so important to access to this knowledge in a digitalized, open and interconnected manners for a better understanding and protection of our unique biodiversity.

Digital Objects & Metadata

Information contain in this repository is encapsulated on digital objects, meaning that every specie registration, specimen, occurrence, geolocation and event have valuable and extends information about their nature, origin, content, history, allowing research from them.
